At Poltair School we know that our students’ opinions are invaluable. Because of this, we have a student council where students are able to share their ideas the futher of Poltair.
The Student Council meet every term to discuss updates, this is informed from discussions in tutor groups around what areas of improvements the students would like to see.
Each House has been given a focus that came out of the first meetings and links into the School Improvement Plan. The students are working with their Heads of Houses in order to develop this focus and to put into place one action that they feel will support our school in moving forward.
The students then lead on this and will review how successful these ideas are. The students will then create a mini-policy which will go to our Leadership Team for approval.
Student Council is an opportunity for students to share in the improvement of our school, and also to build on their leadership skills and communication skills. It also offers a chance to work with their peers in order to develop our school.
St Austell Youth Council
We also have four students on the St Austell Youth Council. These are students who have a really keen interest in shaping our town. These are also students who have an interest in politics and are currently working with our Mayor on how to improve St. Austell, including Art Projects around the town. The students develop their skills of working with a range of others as the St. Austell Youth Council is made up of students and young people from across St.Austell.
