On Tuesday each year group was able to enjoy a different kind of learning experience as Poltair organised its first whole school Curriculum Enrichment event. This built on the previous success of Enterprise and Citizenship activities but it was the first time that everyone was able to learn in this way at once.
Year 7 pupils ventured out to Wheal Martyn on their first Humanities field trip. Year 8 pupils were challenged to produce and market a fruit smoothie whilst taking into account food miles and their carbon footprint. Year 9 enjoyed a series of STEM challenges in the Science labs, ably supported by staff and students from Cornwall College, while Year 10 were endeavouring to be 'Fit for Work' with a series of real job selection activities including an interview with local employers. Year 11 had the vital opportunity to prepare in greater depth for their approaching GCSE exams in English and Maths with a series of engaging if intensive workshops.
This was an important chance to work in different groups and with different staff to develop pupil independence and resilience and we hope to further develop this approach in our next Curriculum Enrichment day in February.
