On Friday afternoon Mr Gapper's Year 10 science pupils were treated to a lecture at Cornwall College St Austell about the application of 'physics in sport'. The lecture was led by visitors from the University of Sheffield who gave a fun and educational session using Olympic sports such as long jump, cycling and running as examples. Audience participation ensured the lecture was interactive and relevant.
"I enjoyed the lecture and how they made science relate to sport. My favourite part was the bike and seeing someone trying to make their surface area as small as possible. We are about to start studying Physics soon for our combined sciences so it will be good to see what that will involve. It was good that they related it back to the Olympics as we could recognise some of the examples." - Quote from Chloe Year 10
